So today’s question is “To you, what is the difference between a leader and a manager?”
So, you know I googled just to get their definition. They even separate it from the search results. The main difference between leaders and managers is that leaders have people who follow them while managers have people who work for them. Then, they talk about business owners because they need to be leaders and managers.
Now I’m going to talk a little bit more about “Hello, Manager” who is the person who controls the activities that require people to comply with certain behaviors. A leader is someone who inspires individuals to follow them, therefore a leader is someone who can set the vision. The manager will be someone who pays attention to every detail of what they do. . . What a micromanager.
We will monitor their activities to ensure compliance. A leader might say, “You know, this is where I want to be. This is where I want to be. This is where we need to be as an organization,” and then elicit information from people about how they think the team can get there or how they think the organization can get there. By doing this, inspire confidence, loyalty, and the belief that this is someone who can be trusted because they are motivated to help.
Why did you leave your last job?
So, to me, leadership qualities, yes, involve following, but there is a way to follow. This is not by giving orders (although at some point, you may have to manage). However, leadership qualities involve the desire to follow the person because you trust them and believe in them. When you’re asked this question in an interview, it’s usually to management or executive candidates, not to individual employees.
You know they’re looking for examples of leadership here. They may also want to see her manage the process as well. But here, you need to prepare some leadership examples that tell your story and demonstrate how people can work with you. He worked tirelessly to find them.
So I hope you follow this advice. Emphasize leadership skills but don’t neglect the management part because at the end of the day organizations may like to hire visionaries and I will use Steve Jobs as an example. This man was an incredible visionary. Eventually, he also realized his vision. It involves management processes.
So again, I think about it from both sides. Don’t neglect one in favor of the other; then you’ll be prone to failure.
