Basic Principles of Networking | Job Search Network

By Jeff Altman, Big Game Hunter
In this video, big game hunter Jeff Altman discusses two basic networking principles you must follow.
What is the first question to ask when someone contacts you about a job?
Today, Big Game Hunter’s Jeff Altman and I give you advice on the importance of networking, but for many of you, you’re doing it wrong. To you, the Internet is online. You are on LinkedIn.
You’re connecting with people. You’re doing a bunch of stuff and not really talking to anyone. Yes, it is important to influence others through the way you communicate.
You’re absolutely right, but there’s a difference between actually talking to someone and actually meeting someone and actually networking or socializing online, I should say, so I want to encourage you to get out of the house, get out of the office, start scheduling regular meetings, meet up with people that you know, and a few years ago someone suggested having lunch with someone every day, It’s a social strategy and I want to encourage you to talk to someone every day, it could be about some professional situation where you’re creating your own brand and image to have an influence in people’s minds to help them just chat with them and see where they could use advice and counsel, do something, than It’s going to go a long way to having that impact if you actually sit down and talk to someone as opposed to emailing or texting, it’s going to help you get that introduction when you need it again, as I said in my recent video, the next recession is coming, I don’t know when it’s coming, but another recession It’s coming and I have my opinion on when it’s going to come Yeah, but whether I’m right or wrong, eventually another recession is going to come and you want to be in a position where people know you, like you, trust you, want to help you, they understand what you do, they know you like you, trust you, want to help you. So get out there. Talk to people.
