Help educators build AI confidence with OpenAI’s new ChatGPT Teacher Essentials course

Today, I’m excited to share that Coursera is partnering with OpenAI to launch ChatGPT Teacher Basicsa new course designed to help K-12 educators develop practical skills in using artificial intelligence to support instruction.
As artificial intelligence changes the way people learn and work, teachers are at the forefront of this change. Three out of five teachers are already using AI tools – with many using it to save time, personalize instruction and support students more effectively. However, many people still lack the training and guidance needed to use these tools confidently and responsibly.
ChatGPT Teacher Basics Provides a practical, approachable introduction to using ChatGPT to meaningfully enhance classroom practice. It helps educators understand how ChatGPT works, customize it for their teaching needs, and apply it to real school and administrative tasks.
Courses include:
- How ChatGPT works: Explain basic concepts clearly and simply
- Personalized ChatGPT: Adapt it to support the way you teach
- Practical classroom application: Examples of Lesson Plans, Student Support and Communication
- Responsible use: A guide to safe, ethical, age-appropriate integration of artificial intelligence
This course is designed to help teachers use artificial intelligence as a supportive, reliable partner to save time, expand creativity, and enhance student engagement.
