Alaska to launch largest-ever flight schedule from Anchorage to Portland

Alaska Airlines plans to operate its largest-ever summer flights next year from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) and Portland International Airport (PDX).

The Seattle-based airline on Thursday launched seven new routes from the two hubs, all of which will be launched between March and June 2026. The new routes include the first nonstop route between ANC and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), as well as additional routes across the Pacific Northwest from PDX.

The expansion comes as Alaska strengthens its home territories in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest to counter competition.

The airline is adding flights and moving more domestic flights to PDX, reinventing its Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) hub into an international gateway. Starting in April, Alaska will launch flights to Europe for the first time, with daily flights from SEA to Rome’s Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport (FCO). Flights to Keflavik International Airport (KEF) near Reykjavik and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) will begin in May.

Kirsten Amrine, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of revenue management and network planning, said ANC and PDX will be added in summer 2026 to support “the airports that matter to our guests and us in our growing global network.”

From ANC, Alaska will add the following routes:

  • Boise Airport, Idaho (BOI): Two flights per Wednesday and Saturday from June 10 to August 15, 2026 by Boeing 737
  • BOS: From June 13 to August 15, 2026, it will be operated by 737 every Saturday
  • Spokane International Airport (GEG), Washington: Two flights every Wednesday and Saturday from June 10 to August 15, 2026 by Embraer E175

Airlines will add from PDX:

  • Washington Bellingham International Airport (BLI): daily E175 flights starting March 18, 2026
  • Seattle Paine Airport (PAE) near Everett, WA: daily E175 flights starting June 10, 2026
  • Jackson Hole Airport, Wyoming (JAC): E175 will operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays from June 10 to September 30, 2026
  • Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) near Pasco, WA: E175 twice daily starting June 10, 2026

All new routes connect existing destinations on the Alaska route map.

In October, Alaska announced new flights from PDX to Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI), Idaho Falls Regional Airport (IDA), Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL).

Schedule data from aviation analytics firm Cirium shows the airline will operate its biggest ever summer schedule next year from ANC and PDX. During the peak period from June to August, Alaska will have an average of at least 66 daily flights from ANC and at least 145 flights from PDX.

SEA, Alaska’s largest hub, will have an average of 373 daily departures by the same period in 2026.

Not all new routes in Alaska are new. Cirium’s timetable shows that the airline last flew ANC-GEG in 2016, PDX-PSC and PDX-BLI in 2018, and PDX-PAE in 2022.

Alaska will be the sole carrier on seven new ANC and PDX routes.
