Impressions of Secrets The Isla Mujeres hotel has been on the radar of TPG since its opening in 2023. Impression Brands, the luxury, adults-only offshoot of Hyatt’s all-inclusive brand Secrets, is already seeing strong results impression A few years ago, one of our directors visited the first Impression Moxche by Secrets resort.
So when I got the chance to experience the brand’s Isla Mujeres outpost in Mexico, located just off the coast of lively Cancun, I jumped at the chance.
Here’s what it’s like to stay at Impressions Secrets of Isla Mujeres and how to use Hyatt points to book this luxury, adults-only all-inclusive resort.

The Secret Impression Hotel Isla Mujeres Experience
Taking the hotel’s exclusive catamaran from Hacienda del Mar Pier to Isla Mujeres, only a 45-minute boat ride from Cancun, is a dream scene for guests. The boat tour includes a full bar and butler service, which is a good indication of what to expect once you arrive at the resort’s long, winding dock.

Arrival is a joy, with friendly staff waiting at the dock to greet guests with warm smiles and refreshing drinks. From here, you can easily see that this hotel is everything your dream of a luxury seaside vacation is made of.

From the pier, guests can look up to admire the design-forward hotel, whose woven dome roof and undulating exterior complement the greenery surrounding the property. Add to that the turquoise waters surrounding Isla Mujeres and you have an idyllic scene.

To reach the check-in desk, guests need to walk up several sets of stairs (there are also accessible elevators), wind past multiple ocean-facing pools, and then through a stunning set of arches into the open-air lobby. Here, beneath a huge domed ceiling and warm, calming lighting, the breeze is fresh and the staff smiles brightly. If you’re not completely relaxed before checking in, you will be when you ascend the stairs to your suite—because yes, Impressions Isla Mujeres is an all-suite hotel.
Room

The resort has a total of 123 rooms (which feels well spread out considering the overall size of the venue) and offers 12 suite types, ranging from the basic king-size junior suites all the way up to the luxurious presidential suites. I was lucky enough to stay in a signature double oceanfront junior suite with a Mayan tub, which was 764 square feet and felt very spacious.

The design and layout of the rooms give a sense of intentional serenity, giving the entire resort a tranquil atmosphere. An arched hallway leads to the master bedroom area, filled with neutral tones and natural materials such as stone walls and woven textiles. Soft lighting is reminiscent of the atmospheric lighting of an open-air lobby, making the space feel particularly calm – the ideal setting for a seaside holiday.
I expected the amenities to be top-notch—this is a luxury all-inclusive resort, after all—but the amenities here blew me away even more than I expected. Impression Hotels has a generous Endless Privileges program that truly goes above and beyond in the in-room amenities department (all of which are included in the nightly room rate, of course). Endless perks include:
- Butler service available from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- No fixed check-in or check-out time (subject to availability)
- Free laundry service (three items per person per stay)
- In-suite minibar refreshed twice daily, welcome tequila, and in-suite wine cooler stocked with personal favorites
(A complete list can be found on the hotel website.)

The chic seating area was stocked with welcome treats, and I was pleased to find the refrigerator stocked with fresh juice, water, soda, and local Mexican beer. There are also five full-size bottles of liquor, including tequila, whiskey and vodka. A small Nespresso machine means coffee is available at the push of a button, and there’s even a wine cooler to keep a few bottles chilled on arrival. Snacks are also stored in a cupboard next to the mini fridge.
The serenity of the bedroom continues into the bathroom, which features thoughtful touches like incense, facial spray and insect repellent, plus sultry lighting, fluffy towels, a beautiful stone and glass shower with rain shower head and Le Labo bath products.

The soaking tub on the patio (which can go from cold to hot depending on your preference) is my favorite spot, partially covered with wooden slats and letting just enough sunlight shine through. The space has a private feel, with huge stone walls on each side separating you from neighboring guests, and lush trees out front – but to my delight, if you stand on the edge you can still see the view, with the tiered infinity pool visible to the right and the sparkling ocean stretching beyond.

Meals and drinks at Isla Mujeres Impression Secret Restaurant
I hadn’t had much experience at all-inclusive resorts before this, so I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of food – but I’d heard from colleagues that Impression Brand excels in this area, and I can confirm that the reputation is well-deserved. With seven restaurants and five lively bars on site, it’s safe to say the dining options here are so There are plenty of them, and you might not even have time to try them all.

Although I had the opportunity to try a few different restaurants, I felt that the Mexican food was by far the most delicious. But other options are impressive too – here’s what I tried at Isla Mujeres:
Spezia

Spezia offers seasonal Italian cuisine. Here we enjoyed a perfectly crafted Diavola pizza with mozzarella, serrano peppers and spicy salami. We also tried the delicious carpaccio, served with fresh arugula and large slices of delightfully nutty parmesan. The restaurant is located on a terrace facing the sea, with a gentle breeze and ample candlelight creating a particularly romantic atmosphere.
la vista

La Vista serves Mexican cuisine and also has a terrace with stunning ocean views, perfectly complementing the authentic Mexican menu. This is by far my favorite restaurant and I love dishes like the fresh ceviche, fish tacos, and the “sope trilogy,” which is a small corn cake topped with deliciously seasoned toppings like beans, chicken, and beef.
Wildfire BBQ

We had the pleasure of a private dinner in the wine cellar at Wildfire Grill, a spacious and dimly lit steakhouse that I highly recommend for a romantic occasion. Everything I tried was exactly what I want in a steakhouse: juicy grilled vegetables, plenty of wine from the extensive wine list, and of course, beautiful steaks grilled to perfection.

At Unik, guests can take an elevator to a rooftop space (which also features an infinity pool, bar and ample seating), where the views are great and the food is fresh. During the day, Unik opens with breakfast, followed by light snacks like ceviche (my personal favorite) and guacamole. At sunset, dinner service will feature an a la carte menu of global flavors under the stars with a live DJ as the backdrop.
Facilities and activities

- Enjoy a free 20-minute wellness experience per person per stay.
- Afternoon tea service is available daily from 4pm to 6pm
- There are plenty of planned activities throughout the day, from performances to classes and even tequila tastings.
- The on-site gym has plenty of cardio equipment, weights, and space for yoga and stretching.
- The rooftop has a restaurant (Unik) as well as an open-air bar and an infinity pool that runs the same length as the building. It can be said to have the best view on the island.
- In terms of water access, guests can enjoy the main infinity pool (with swim-up bar), rooftop infinity pool, large hot tub, and direct access to the ocean from the beach and marina. The resort has plenty of lounge chairs and provides sunscreen and clean towels in all swimming areas.
Accessibility

Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets offers wheelchair-friendly entrances, corridors and lifts.
Accessible guest rooms feature visual alarms, grab bars in the shower, and low-mounted switches and outlets. I didn’t notice any pools at the resort had pool lifts.
As always, we recommend calling the resort before booking to make sure it meets your needs.

As a hotel editor with little experience in the all-inclusive resort world, I can say that The Secret of Isla Mujeres Impressions sets the bar high—very high. You won’t find watered-down cocktails or unimaginative buffet-style food here; Instead, the resort staff ensures that the food and drinks are of consistent quality. Otherwise, the service was impeccable, starting with the extremely friendly staff at the check-in desk and extending to our fantastic personal butlers as well as the restaurants, bars and public spaces.
All this is to illustrate: if this That’s what an all-inclusive vacation is like, and then I got the hype. For those looking for an ultra-relaxing getaway where you don’t really have to think about much (except reapplying sunscreen and deciding which restaurant to try each night), Isla Mujeres is well worth your World of Hyatt points.
