I have the skills and experience for this job but didn’t get an interview | Job TV Network

Some people are confused that they haven’t been invited to an interview, even though they have all the skills and experience for the job. I’ve provided some ideas as to why this might be happening.

The Best Ways to Protect Your Career from a Recession

Today’s question is, “I have all the experience for this job, but I’m not getting an interview. What went wrong?”

There are several possible reasons why this may occur.

Let me start with the obvious. You may think you have all the skills and experience you need to do the job, but your resume doesn’t say that. Therefore, they have no idea. You assert this, but it doesn’t convince them. This is what’s in the document you submit to them. This is the differentiating factor. Unless it’s fully explained in your resume, they won’t believe you.

Also, you may not have enough experience. You’ve been doing this for 3 months and they are looking for 7 or 8 years of experience. sorry! You are not qualified. You don’t have all the experience, and you don’t have all the skills.

Another possible reason is that you are overestimating your skills and knowledge. This gives the impression that, “I have one year of experience and they are looking for four years. Hey, I have all the skills and experience!” So, in their mind, you don’t! And, since they have to live with the effects of your performance, you don’t qualify. They already have a mental picture of what it takes to be successful at work. You don’t.

This brings us to the final reason why you didn’t get an interview. You don’t. Like most job seekers I see, you’re overestimating yourself and your abilities. You may have taken courses at college or elsewhere, but that doesn’t mean you qualify. They are looking for someone with a certain number of years of experience doing a job that you claim to have expertise in, but you don’t have that background.

In fact, you may be acting like the typical job seeker, overestimating your experience, overestimating your abilities, and the company is taking a shot at them.

Sorry to be blunt, but these are reasons why you might not get an interview.
