One of the reasons your company loses its best talent is because your middle managers take them for granted and treat them like the spouse you’ve been married to for a long time. No romance, no love. Nothing to praise. Just assume they will always be there for you. Believe me, I know many spouses who have lost their partners because of this attitude.
So when a recruiter knocks on the door and says, “Hey, I have a great opportunity.” Well, they get excited. They get excited again, which leads to them going out on dates, which leads to them being romantic, which leads to them falling in love with someone else.
