For many professionals, especially those early in their careers, the career ladder is starting to fracture as AI takes on entry-level tasks like researching, summarizing, and drafting that juniors once used to learn. However, this disruption creates significant opportunities for those who can bridge the gap between emerging technologies and stagnant organizational workflows. To thrive in this environment, you must adopt five specific strategies to position yourself as an indispensable asset.

Strategy One: Become an in-house AI expert. You don’t need to be a data scientist; instead, you need to master the effective day-to-day use of AI tools to drive real business results. Familiar with multi-mode tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity. The goal is to transition from using basic chatbots to deploying artificial intelligence agents capable of executing multi-step workflows. Stop solving one person’s problem and start solving ten’s problems by building a shared library of tips or shared workflows for your entire department.
