If no recruiters contact you on LinkedIn, is your career over?

Is your career over? Boy, were we being dramatic! I know this is what some people fear, and in my answer I explain what the problem usually is. (from the archives)
Don’t settle when they make an offer
Jeff Altman, “Big Game Hunter.” I’m a career coach who helps people find jobs, hire, manage and lead, you know, just overall workplace issues. If no recruiter contacts me on LinkedIn, is my career over? Wow! drama! So, possible explanation. . . Well, there’s a good chance that what you’re doing isn’t a good fit for a recruiter.
It’s possible. The probability is not that. Chances are your LinkedIn profile is terrible and you need to clean it up.
Why is it so bad? Your photo is not good and neither is the caption under your name. What’s more, the profile doesn’t contain the relevant keywords someone would use to find people like you. It is understood that LinkedIn sells the ability to search LinkedIn’s entire database of members (650 million people) to businesses and third-party recruiters.
Unless you use keywords, you are invisible. It’s a bit like going to a job board to find a job. If you choose the wrong term, you won’t find jobs relevant to you, right? It’s the same for them.
When they’re trying to find someone to fill a job opening, it has to be in the right geographic area, of course, it has to have the right level of experience, and it has to use keywords that prove you’re a good fit for the position you’re qualified for. How do you find these? Search on LinkedIn. Look at the jobs listed there for what you do, and note the language used to describe what you do, and copy that into your profile.
