When meeting with potential employees, what do interviewers look for as red flags and/or automatic dismissals?
One thing I know interviewers will cultivate is Carefully crafted BS detector Because you’re not the only person they’ve talked to. For example, let’s say you’re talking to a company HR person or even a third-party recruiter; they’ve talked to someone at your company at some point, so they have some familiarity with the environment, so they can smell bullshit.
Hiring managers can do this too, because of course they’ve also interviewed people who work for your company, so they can find out Uncoordinated Between what you say you do and what you actually do, because, like I said, they can smell bullshit.
Let’s go a step further here. There’s something about your background that you can’t explain so clearly. You won’t look comfortable. You will show your nervousness in your answers and they will notice it. So got it It’s not just what you say; it’s how you say it This is important. They’ll be able to spot the bullshit that will get you rejected, and you’ll feel it too, because they’ll dig deep into things that will make you uncomfortable and squirmy because they believe they know you’re not telling them the truth. so lie A big deal indeed.
I would go into different levels for different types of positions where there are cosmetic issues. That is, they want someone who looks like – well, I’m not talking about white or black or Asian – I’m talking about How well you dress, how well you speak, how persuasive your ideas are. They will listen to what you say and how you explain yourself in order to make a decision.
