A few points about interview objectives

A few points about interview objectives
By Jeff Altman, Big Game Hunter
Jeff Altman, Big Game Hunter Remind you of your goals and objectives during your interview.
Building your own brand is both important and easy
You know, people need to have goals when they’re interviewing, just like you do for the rest of your life. In this show, I try to talk to you about some of the goals you should set for yourself during the interview process.
That doesn’t mean you have to be perfect, but broadly speaking, what do you want to achieve? I hope you found this show helpful, so let’s get started. When you’re interviewing, whether it’s your first interview or your 14th interview, and you get to the 14th, you can tell it’s hard for the employer to make a decision. They will talk about consensus but cannot make a decision.
But that’s another video. I’ll talk about this next time. So when you’re interviewing for a position, whether it’s your first or your 14th interview, you have one basic goal, and that is to demonstrate that you’re a good fit for what they’re looking for and how you can fulfill what they’re looking for in you.
But you also need to extract information from them. You need to spend some time in advance preparing some questions besides telling me about the job, okay? You can’t go too in-depth or it will make them feel like they are going through an investigation. But there are some things you can ask along the way, which will explore it a little bit, but it’s not designed to make an impression.
So, for example, if you know my interview philosophy, I have what I call the best question you should ask in any interview before it even starts. I have a video about this. Playing with Jeff Altman, Big Game Hunter, this is the best question to ask in any interview.
So, this is on YouTube. Pull it off. Watch this video.
Give it a thumbs up and take a look. I have another one, because since this is answering a question about work, you can’t ask questions about work again in the future. So, I have another video talking about replacing at the end.
But I wish you could go a little further. What is your background? What brought you here? What was your experience before joining? What does success look like to you, to me? Now, this is a variation of the two questions I asked earlier. I just don’t remember the name of the video.
So, I apologize. But I will discuss some of the questions to ask. You want a good checklist with only three or four questions that cover the main points, and none of them should be about benefits.
You know, when you get an offer, they’re going to offer benefits. So, at that point, you can say you can ask about their insurance coverage. We have insurance and understand that today all insurance must meet the minimum requirements of the Affordable Care Act.
So, it’s not a big, complicated thing. When it comes to benefits, what you really care about are ancillary factors like whether they pay bonuses, whether they have a 401k, what the matching is, and those vary from company to company. But ultimately, your plan during the interview is to make a lasting impression.
Let them leave you with thoughts that align with your goals. To be clear, when you go into an interview, you’re thinking about what do I want to convey to them about myself, to let them know that I’m qualified for this position and that I’m a good fit. Instead, you have to extract something from them that lets them know you’re evaluating them too, and your questions have to be reasonable.
