The Chase Ultimate Rewards program allows travelers to redeem rewards in a variety of ways. But one of the most valuable ways to redeem Chase points is through Ultimate Rewards’ airline and hotel transfer partners. IHG One Rewards is one of these transfer partners.
However, some Chase transfer partners offer more valuable rewards than others. So if you’re considering transferring Chase points to IHG One Rewards, here’s everything you should know.
How to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to IHG One Rewards
If you have at least one Chase credit card that earns transferable Ultimate Rewards points, you can redeem your rewards by transferring your points to select airline or hotel programs that partner with Ultimate Rewards. IHG One Rewards is one of these partner programs.
You can transfer Chase points to IHG in 1,000-point increments through the Chase website or app. However, the transfer is final, so make sure you are sure you want to transfer your Chase points to IHG before completing the transfer.

Can Chase points be transferred to IHG?
If you choose a Chase card that earns transferable Ultimate Rewards points, you can transfer your Chase points to IHG One Rewards, including:

If the account you are using to claim your rewards earns transferable Ultimate Rewards points, all rewards in that account are transferable.
So, if you have Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Freedom Unlimited, you can combine the rewards you earn on Freedom Unlimited into your Sapphire Preferred account. You can then transfer some or all of the rewards in your Chase Sapphire Preferred account to IHG One Rewards (or any other Chase transfer partner).

The transfer ratio between Chase and IHG is 1:1. However, you can only transfer Chase points in 1,000-point increments.
For every 1,000 Chase points transferred, you’ll earn 1,000 IHG points. According to TPG’s January 2026 valuation, 1,000 Chase points are worth $20.50 and 1,000 IHG points are worth $5. That’s a significant difference, although you may get more or less value when redeeming IHG points, depending on your specific redemption.
Chase occasionally offers transfer bonuses. During such bonus periods, you may be able to transfer points from Chase to IHG at a higher rate.

How long does it take to transfer Chase points to IHG One Rewards?
Transfers from Chase to IHG are usually instant. Even if the transfer isn’t instant, it’s usually completed the next business day. Therefore, you can usually wait until you need IHG points to make a reservation before transferring Chase points to IHG.
In rare cases, it may take up to 7 business days to transfer Chase points to IHG One Rewards. Fortunately, once you confirm your transfer request with Chase, you will receive an email confirming that your points transfer is in progress. Then, you’ll receive another email from Chase once the transfer is complete. So even if the transfer isn’t instant, you’ll receive an email when the transfer is complete.

How to transfer Chase points to IHG One Rewards
To transfer Chase points to IHG One Rewards, visit the Chase website or app and log in. Click on the Chase card to earn transferable Ultimate Rewards points you want to use. On the page that loads, click “Redeem” next to your points balance.
Click “Travel” in the top navigation bar and select “Transfer points to partners.”
Scroll through the list of transfer partners until you can click on the IHG One Rewards section. Carefully read the information on the loading page and click “Transfer Points.” Once you do this, you’ll be taken to a page where you can enter or confirm your IHG One Rewards account information and click Next.
Enter the number of Chase points you want to transfer to IHG and click Next.
The final page will load, allowing you to review and verify all information. When you’re ready to transfer your Chase points to IHG One Rewards, click “Submit.”
Transferring Chase points to IHG is a one-way transaction, so please make sure you are willing to do this before submitting the form.

When should you transfer Chase points to IHG One Rewards?
Now that you know how to transfer Chase points to IHG One Rewards, the question is: when should you transfer Chase points to IHG?
The answer to this question varies from person to person and depends on many different factors. However, considering that Chase points are worth more than four times as much as IHG points according to TPG’s January 2026 valuations, many rewards travelers will tell you that Chase points shouldn’t be transferred to IHG One Rewards.
In fact, I personally don’t think you should generally transfer Chase points to IHG One Rewards for two reasons. First, other Chase transfer partners offer more value per Chase point. One of the partners is World of Hyatt, which offers award nights starting at 3,500 points per night. Additionally, you can typically purchase IHG points multiple times per year for 0.5 cents each.
Therefore, I prefer to buy IHG points at 0.5 cents each during the 100% sale. I prefer to transfer my Chase points to other transfer partners such as World of Hyatt and Air Canada Aeroplan.
But that doesn’t mean transferring Chase points to IHG is never the right move. For example, if you’re just a few thousand points away from booking an IHG award night or stay, it might make sense to transfer Chase points to IHG to complete the booking. However, in most cases, you’ll get more value from your points when you use other Chase transfer partners. Or, if you really want to use Chase points to book an IHG hotel, you can redeem Chase points to pay for your stay through the Chase Travel℠ portal to get even better deals.

According to TPG’s January 2026 valuation, Chase Ultimate Rewards points are the most valuable credit card rewards currency. Chase Transfer Partners are the best way to get exceptional value from your points.
You can get a lot of value when redeeming IHG points, but the value of IHG One Rewards points is low compared to other Chase transfer partners (0.5 cents per point, according to TPG’s January 2026 valuation), making IHG One Rewards one of the weaker options for transferring Chase points. Therefore, you generally want to transfer your Chase points to another transfer partner.
