No matter who I travel with, I always look for hotels that participate in major hotel loyalty programs so I can earn points and enjoy elite status benefits like room upgrades and late checkout.
But beyond that, the types of hotels I look for when traveling with my family may be very different from the types of hotels I consider when traveling alone or with my husband.
When I travel with my family, at the very least I need enough beds for everyone to sleep in, a bathroom big enough for all of us to get ready, and a pool that’s easily accessible. Ideally, I’d also find a place within walking distance of local attractions that offers kid-friendly activities and maybe a waterslide or two (I pretend it’s for kids, but it’s really for me).
This year, there are some impressive new properties you should add to your search. Here are 10 of our favorite new points hotels for families.

Wauke Sandpiper All Inclusive Resort
You don’t have to leave the United States to enjoy a relaxing, all-inclusive vacation. The recently opened Voco Sandpiper all-inclusive resort in Port St. Lucie, Florida, located on the banks of the St. Lucie River, offers an array of family-friendly on- and off-water activities. Think oceanfront yoga, pickleball, volleyball, pool games and more.

When you’ve worked up an appetite after having fun in the sun, the resort has four restaurants, three bars and a walk-in coffee window. This resort has 355 rooms, with your choice of standard rooms or two-bedroom suites, all with private balconies or terraces.

Saint Lucia Jungle Estate
Santa Lucia Jungle Hacienda, an Autograph Collection hotel, opened in January near Carrara National Park in Costa Rica. This intimate 84-room resort allows guests to immerse themselves in a tranquil rainforest setting with mountain and forest views, wildlife experiences such as bird watching and nature tours, Costa Rican cuisine, a spa with open-air treatment areas, and a relaxation pool.
The resort also has a kids club so you can enjoy the facilities while the kids have fun. Rooms range from standard king and two queen rooms to junior suites and several one-bedroom suites, each with a private balcony or terrace and local-style décor.

Hotel Indigo Gatlinburg Downtown
Hotel Indigo Gatlinburg Downtown opens in September 2025. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the shops, dining and attractions along Park Avenue, while enjoying stunning mountain views of the Smoky Mountains from the rooftop terrace (the highest terrace in the city), heated infinity pool (seasonal) and furnished guest room balconies.
Not only is this hotel convenient to downtown Gatlinburg, but it’s also a short distance from other area attractions like the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Dollywood.

2 new Under Canvas locations
Under Canvas already has 12 safari-style glamping destinations located near some of America’s most beautiful national parks and scenic landmarks, but this year it’s adding two new locations, bringing the total to 14.
Under Canvas Yosemite will open on April 16, just 10 minutes from the Yosemite National Park main entrance station, and Under Canvas White Mountains will open on June 4, just outside the White Mountain National Forest.

All Under Canvas locations offer family-friendly tents that sleep 2 to 6 guests and offer amenities such as on-site dining, outdoor and board games, live music, unlimited s’mores and more.

JW Marriott Hotel Costa Elena All Inclusive
When the JW Marriott All-Inclusive Hotel Costa Elena opens in Costa Rica’s Guanacaste province in late 2026, it will mark the brand’s first all-inclusive hotel in the country and the first in the world. The hotel features 415 elegant guest rooms, 17 swimming pools, a full-service spa, fitness center and 11 dining options in a beautiful oceanfront setting.
The resort is located in the resort residential community of Costa Elena, a quiet, rugged and vast protected area where tropical forest meets the high seas. If seclusion and luxury are at the top of your family’s beach vacation wish list, this upscale resort will become your new favorite getaway.
Rates for the JW Marriott Costa Elena All Inclusive Hotel will be announced later this year.
Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort Westerly
Reservations are now open for Westerly, a new oceanfront tower within the prestigious Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino. This 161-room “resort within a resort” offers guests a boutique hotel experience with the amenities of a larger Palm Beach resort.

Elysia Conrad Athens
Conrad Athens The Ilisian (formerly the Hilton Athens) will open later this year and is already accepting reservations for June 1 and beyond. The 307-room hotel features indoor and outdoor pools, including the city’s largest outdoor pool; a ’60s-themed kids’ club; a full-service spa; and nine bars and restaurants, all within walking distance of iconic museums, parks, and historic monuments.
Many of the modern and stylish rooms have balconies with views of the Acropolis and Mount Lycabettus. In addition to standard rooms that can accommodate two guests, the hotel also has several suites, including a premium family room with a king bed, sofa bed and separate dining area.

La Cantera Hilton Xenia Resort & Spa
Opening in October 2025, Hilton La Cantera Resort & Spa at Signia adds another family-friendly option to San Antonio’s already inviting Texas Hill Country. This sprawling resort has 496 guest rooms overlooking rolling mountains and exuding a charming Southern feel.
The recently refreshed resort features nine dining options and amenities such as a kids’ club, two swimming pools, nature trails, an 18-hole golf course, spa and fitness center, nature trails and kid-approved activities such as candle making, rubber duck races, bingo and more.

The Westin Playa Vallarta Resort, All Inclusive
