Self-promote yourself into the job

Self-promote yourself into the job
By Jeff Altman, Big Game Hunter
If you’re like most people, you’ve never written a press release to draw attention to the success you’ve had.
Indeed.
But some of you should put out a press release or encourage your company to promote what you and your team are doing because they are important.
Most of you can do the next best thing to a press release:
regular annotations
An old friend of mine would send a note to all her friends to update them on what was going on in her life, her professional successes, accomplishments, and occasional setbacks. This allows her to stay in touch with many people who are willing to provide her with advice, advice and work.
Today, with email, everything is much easier than before.
Send an email every 6 months to all your friends, acquaintances, and former colleagues to keep them updated. Skip complaining about your boss. Former colleagues may come into contact with them, and you don’t want to create problems.
People can be easily added to Outlook and other similar products; you can also schedule calls using services like Tempo or any other scheduling/calendar app on your phone.
No matter how you look at it, since only 22% of jobs are filled by recruiters and less than 6% are filled through hiring committees, your network and their ability to consider you will go a long way in helping job opportunities fall into your hands.
How do you know it’s time to give up?
