Breeze expands with 4 new cities and 14 routes

Breeze Airlines is growing again.
The leisure airline will expand its 14-route offering to four more cities (three new and one returning) starting in May. New destinations added to the Breeze route map are:
- Atlantic City, New Jersey
- Brownsville, Texas
- Nassau, Bahamas
In addition, Breeze will resume service to the San Antonio market, which was last served in May 2022.

This is part of a wider announcement of 14 routes, which include seasonal and year-round services. (Full details below.)
For Atlantic City and Brownsville, Breeze’s arrival will be a welcome addition to the roster of airlines flying from those markets.
In Atlantic City, Spirit Airlines was the only airline for about a decade until Allegiant Airways arrived last year to give the airport a coveted second airline. Breeze will now serve the airport with three airlines – not including American Airlines’ bus “flights” to its Philadelphia hub.
Likewise, Brownsville will add another airline to its currently thin lineup. Currently, the airport is served by only two U.S. airlines; United Airlines’ United Express regional affiliate flies to Houston, and American Eagle’s American Eagle airline flies to Dallas-Fort Worth. Brownsville is also served by Mexican small airline Aerus, which flies a 12-passenger Cessna Grand Caravan EX turboprop aircraft to Monterrey, Mexico.

While Breeze is certainly one of the big winners from Wednesday’s announcement as a destination for the new airline, several other cities also stand out among the airline’s existing cities to which it’s launching new routes.

Louisville, Kentucky, and Raleigh, North Carolina each launched three new routes. With the new routes, Breeze will offer a total of 38 nonstop seasonal and year-round routes from Raleigh and nine nonstop routes from Louisville.
Other interesting takeaways from Wednesday’s announcement include:
- Breeze will add a nearly cross-country flight between Los Angeles and Louisville. At 1,842 miles, the route will be the second longest in Louisville, behind Breeze’s 1,990-mile route to San Francisco.
- Breeze’s flights from Atlantic City to Charleston, South Carolina, and Raleigh, North Carolina, will be the only aircraft currently serving New Jersey airports to destinations outside of Florida. Spirit Airlines and Allegiant Airlines only fly to Florida.
- Nassau, Bahamas will become Breeze’s fourth international destination, following Cancun, Mexico; Montego Bay, Jamaica; and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
SeatGuru Is Dead: Here Are Your Best Bets
Breeze was launched in 2021 by JetBlue founder David Neeleman with the goal of connecting “underserved” mid-sized markets with nonstop flights. The airline targets leisure travelers, with many routes consisting of just two flights per week. Still, Breeze offers perks like first-class seats on most of its planes, setting it apart from the sketchy discounters.
Neeleman touted the business model in a statement announcing the new route, saying:
“Breeze continues to resonate with travelers by providing convenient, direct service to underserved destinations, and we’re eager to introduce our unique, premium offering to Brownsville and Atlantic City.”
