New Capital One Airport Lounge Usage Policy: Things to Know

It’s about time: Capital One’s new lounge access policy for Capital One Venture X Rewards credit card and Capital One Venture X Business cardholders is official.
Venture X and Venture X business cardholders can no longer bring guests into Capital One lounges or landing zones for free. Instead, it’s $45 per guest ($25 for guests 17 and under; children under 2 are free).
Venture X authorized users no longer receive free lounge access. Instead, primary cardholders will need to pay an additional $125 per account to gain unlimited access to Capital One and Priority Pass lounges for up to four authorized users. Venture X Business Card holders can also now add up to four authorized users, each with access to Capital One and Priority Pass lounges for $125 per person.
For Priority Pass, Venture X cardholders will pay $35 per guest. Venture
The primary cardholder can unlock access to Capital One Lounges for two guests and Capital One Login for one guest if they spend at least $75,000 on the card in a calendar year. This will unlock guest access for the current year and the next calendar year for which you spend $75,000 or more.
What was once one of the most generous airport lounge access policies on the market for authorized users and guests has now been tightened. Here’s what cardholders need to know.
What are the changes to Capital One’s lounge access rules?
Previously, Venture X and Venture X Business cardholders could bring guests into the Capital One Lounge, Capital One Landing Lounge and Priority Pass Lounge for free. Venture X authorized users also receive free access to Capital One Lounges, Capital One Landing and Priority Pass Lounges.
This is no longer the case as the primary cardholder is now the only customer with free admission. There are now fees for guests and authorized users – unless you spend $75,000 or more on Venture X or the Venture X Business Card in a calendar year.
Here’s a breakdown of the costs you can expect based on your situation:

This isn’t the first time Capital One has restricted lounge access. In January 2025, Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Spark Miles Business Card cardholders lost the benefit of two free visits to Capital One Lounges or Plaza Premium Lounges.

Who is most affected by changes to Capital One lounge access?
The changes will have the greatest impact on group travelers, couples with just one Venture X or Venture X Business ticket in their wallet, and families with children 3 and older.
Still, lounge access is free for authorized users after paying $125 per year. This is a downgrade from Venture X as it used to be a free perk for its authorized users.

This is actually a positive change for Venture X Business cardholders, as before these new policies were announced, they couldn’t add authorized users with lounge access.
Solo travelers will not be as affected as these new rules limit access to guests and authorized users.

bottom line
As airport lounge operators continue to struggle with overcrowding, Capital One has decided to take steps to limit free access to guests and authorized users using some of its most popular travel cards.
For cardholders who value Capital One airport lounge access privileges, there is the option to pay for guest use, either on a per-visit basis or by paying $125 by adding an authorized user. High-spending cardholders who put at least $75,000 on their card in a year will also unlock guest access.
While these changes may create challenges for couples, families, and group travelers, solo travelers won’t experience as much pain.
