Disney launches new premium card with $600 bonus and exclusive benefits

Want a Disney credit card that gives you annual statement points toward your Disney theme park tickets?

Maybe you want to offer an exclusive annual benefit, like earning $200 in Disney Reward Dollars each year when you spend $2,000 on a U.S. Disney Cruise Line or Disney resort stay? Or maybe you just want a Disney credit card with unique card art options like Spider-Man (drawn by Humberto Ramos), Stitch or even Coco?

Disney and Chase just launched a new premium option: the Disney® Inspire Visa® Card. The card has an annual fee of $149 and is aimed at theme park and cruise ship regulars. At launch, new cardholders can also earn up to $600 in bonuses: a $300 Disney gift card upon approval and a $300 statement credit after you spend $1,000 in purchases within the first three months of account opening.

Disney Inspire Visa: Get a $300 Disney gift card upon approval and a $300 statement credit when you spend $1,000 in the first three months.

This new premium card option joins the existing Disney credit card lineup, which includes a $0 annual fee Disney® Visa® Card (See Rates and Fees) and $49 per year Disney® Premier Visa® Card (See Rates and Fees).

The new Disney Inspire Visa Card offers attractive card benefits for House of Mouse’s biggest fans, and the best welcome bonus I’ve ever seen on a Disney card, it’s worth a closer look. Here’s information about the newest addition to the Disney card portfolio.

Disney Inspire Visa Card Offers

This card is designed for those who enjoy spending time at Disneyland in the U.S. and sailing on Disney Cruise Lines, as well as enjoying the Disney magic at home with Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+.

In fact, if you use the card often enough to trigger points toward annual park tickets and Disney Reward Dollars (which is easy to do if you frequent Disney), you can score $300 worth of Disney vacations each year, more than enough to offset the annual fee with these benefits alone.

Earn $100 in points toward Disneyland tickets

Every cardholder anniversary (or when your card renews), you’ll receive a $100 statement credit on your card when you spend $200 or more on U.S. Disney theme park tickets. This can take the form of individual park tickets or even annual passes to Disneyland or Disney World.

For those who frequent Disneyland in the U.S., this is as good a deal as money in the bank. Even if you don’t go to the park that year, you can usually purchase a ticket for the following year.

The Disney Inspire Visa also brings a host of popular benefits offered on the other two Disney cards, such as:

  • Interest-free for six months on qualifying Disney vacation packages
  • Exclusive character photo opportunities for passholders at Disneyland and Disney World
  • Save 10% to 15% on eligible purchases at Disneyland and Disney World (10% off select merchandise, 10% off select dining, 10% off select entertainment activities, 15% off select guided tours)

Earn up to 10% on Disney Reward Dollars

The Disney Inspire Visa offers rewards on everyday purchases in the form of Disney Rewards Dollars.

As mentioned before, you can use Disney Rewards Dollars to offset Disney-related expenses, such as park admission, dining, and resort stays, for a fee of 1 Disney Rewards Dollar equal to $1.

For the new Disney Inspire Visa Card, the earn rate breaks down as:

  • 10% for disneyplus.com, hulu.com and plus.espn.com
  • 3% at most other U.S. Disney parks and gas stations
  • Grocery stores and restaurants 2%
  • 1% on all other card purchases

If you’re looking to maximize your earn rate on your credit card’s bonus categories, it can be difficult to get a good return on your Disney purchases, as purchases can be coded differently depending on which card you use and where you spend your money in the parks.

For example, a restaurant may code it as dining on some cards, but a kiosk may not. Resort stays may be coded as travel, but individual park tickets may not be coded as travel unless purchased as part of a larger package or through a third party. It gets confusing.

A co-branded card like this has its advantages because it takes the guesswork out of how purchases are coded.

If you spend a lot at Disney and want to make sure you get the 3% rewards, the Disney Inspire Visa Card offers better benefits than the other two Disney cards in this category.

Now, what if it was possible for you to exceed this speed? real Maximizing credit card rewards across various credit card options? Yes, but I would say this is a good option for casual rewards card users who want to keep it simple but get some solid rewards at Disney.

Is the new Disney Inspire Visa card worth buying?

Chase and Disney have been working together for decades, so they’ve had plenty of time to listen to what cardholders want next. Cathy Klein, senior vice president of corporate alliances and consumer financial services for The Walt Disney Company, said that with this card, they are now targeting the “biggest Disney fans.”

I have to agree – this card was made for those who love Disney and visit Disneyland USA every year or go on a Disney cruise.

That’s because these Disney fans are the most accessible, earning 200 Disney Rewards Dollars each year on their anniversary when they use the card to spend $2,000 on U.S. Disney resort stays and book Disney cruises. Not to mention, they’ll have an easier time getting a $100 bill credit every year they spend at least $200 on Disneyland and/or Disney World tickets on their anniversary.

For cardholders who can use up to $300 in Disney points for the entire year, this card is an absolute steal.

In the first year alone, Disney regulars can easily get up to $900 in value from their new card, thanks to (up to) a $600 welcome offer and a $300 annual benefit after qualifying spending requirements are met, which can be used to offset the cost of park admission, resort stays, cruise bookings, and more.

In addition, cardholders can receive up to $120 in annual bill credits on purchases of Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+.

Of course, for those who don’t foresee a trip to Disney in their future or are more immersed in the world of credit card rewards, it may not make sense to add this card to their wallet.

bottom line

This isn’t a premium travel card for everyone, but for frequent Disney Park visitors or Disney Cruise Line fans, the math is surprisingly easy. The card’s earn rate and benefits don’t require you to track a ton of statement credits to recoup your “investment.”

For Disney fans who visit frequently and want an easy way to earn rewards and discounts on the trips they’re already taking, this new card fills a long-standing gap in the Disney credit card lineup.
