How recruiters poach your best talent: Overload them
Recruiters don’t steal your best talent. You will lose them. I know you don’t want to hear this. Do you want to think evil recruiters are stealing them? They are not. You are losing them.
One way to lose them is during review. Often during a review, which falls on their work anniversary, the manager will sit down with the subordinate and basically give them a verbal beating. Little love is offered. There are very few things they do well because those things are in the past. People forget about them; they ignore the mistakes and instead focus on the mistakes.
You gotta give him some love. You have to prove they did something good. Yes, there were some areas where they could improve, but overall, it was a great performance.
People want to feel you care. If all that happens is that you throw them away, you lose them
