San Francisco’s Museum of Fine Arts lays off 12 employees

The Museum of Fine Arts in San Francisco (FAMSF) recently announced that it will provide 12 staff members for the ongoing efforts to maintain the long-term health and sustainability of our institution. The organization is responsible for Young Museum and the Legion of Honor.

A press statement from Thomas P. Campbell, director and CEO of the San Francisco Museum of Fine Arts, published July 18, said the decision to reduce staff was a necessary review for “long-term financial stability” after months of scenario planning, rigorous financial analysis and extensive review by the museum’s executive leaders and trustees.

according to San Francisco ChroniclesThe news first reported on Saturday that the layoffs came after March discussions that reduced FAMSF’s city-sponsored workforce by nearly a quarter after the mayor’s office issued a directive to cut general spending by 15%.
