Let me give you a scenario: you are in the casino, and there is a card game where you will play with a typical 52 cards. The way the game works is that if the dealer gets two black cards, uh, it will pile up. If you have two red cards, it will pile up. If there is black and red, it will go into the discarded heap. The casino says to you, “How much do you want to play for this game?” So, you know, “How much do you want to win in this? How much risk are you willing to take?”
So the question boils down to: “Do you think you can win this time? What’s interesting is that no matter what you do, the answer is no. Because of the discarded pile, i.e., you know, a card with two cards at a time, one black and one red, you and the dealer will always have the same number of cards. So there’s no point in playing the game, so the number you’re going to bet is zero. Because what’s the point of sitting there for a long time, knowing that no matter what you do, you won’t win anything and you won’t lose anything?
