A new era of connection – start with you

On wired, we Obsessed with changes in the world – Recently, there have been many obsessions. From the speed of breakthrough in AI research to the structural transformation of the entire U.S. federal government, Wired’s reporters, producers and editors are committed to reporting from the front-line reports of these changes and bringing everyone to everyone.

Our goal is to wake up every day and discover what we call “Story Zero”: Anyone even knows there is a story to tell. We strive to do this in a conversational and accessible, fearless and certain way and ultimately help you understand what has changed, why and how it will affect your present and future.

I’m incredibly proud that our work this year has often achieved the lofty goals we set for ourselves: WIRED journalists have produced groundbreaking reporting on DOGE’s disruption of federal agencies, unearthed ambiguousies in the Jeffery Epstein video, delivered a constant drumbeat of clear-eyed coverage on AI’s real-world impact (and the AI industry’s outrageous talent wars), and found the time to execute on narrative stories that run from murder cult caused by AI to quantum apocalypse around the corner.

We also have a lot of fun. Our creative team is pushing the boundaries of digital design to create interactions such as quantum encryption calculators and evocative digital software packages, including our in-depth look at the cutting edges of computing. We are turning more and more journalism into new formats, including vertical videos you often see in our stories, and our new podcast Incredible valley.

There are many reasons to excite Wired’s future. But it is important to recognize that we are doing this in an information ecosystem that is changing before our eyes: a platform that is used like a wired channel for connecting readers, listeners, and audiences is failing in real time; Facebook traffic disappeared a few years ago, and now Google searches are gradually declining as companies redeem users to rely on AI overviews rather than linking to reliable publishers. More and more users are also skipping Google completely and choosing to use chatbots such as Chatgpt or Claude to find information that once relied on news media. Meanwhile, the slope and false and false information generated by AI are oozing into every pore of the internet, polluting social media feeds and flooding news and human-driven storytelling.

At Wired, we solved this so-called “traffic apocalypse” and the Internet’s AI sloped solution, which was simple: connect our humans to everyone.

Here’s the plan: We will continue to produce top-notch news and storytelling, from written stories, spoons, interviews and podcasts and audio narratives to bite-sized videos and live streams. And, we invite you to join us directly on Wired.com or your inbox, and we believe the new subscription product is more dynamic, more attractive and more valuable. Most importantly, we are increasingly focused on building a community and a shared dialogue between wired journalists and all of you – audiences of curious, brilliant, future-focused people around the world. We want to answer your questions and ask for your comments and ideas. We want to know what scares you, what excites you, and what we can do to help you navigate this strange new future.
