FAQ

What is hydroponics?

In simplest terms, hydroponic gardening means planting plants in plants without roots. Sometimes, plants are suspended in water, such as in Ascension or Gardyn; sometimes they are in pods attached to wicks, such as in clicks and growth; sometimes, their roots are sprayed with water or mist, such as growth and plant-based. Typically, this is consistent with artificial light sources in indoor or outdoor fences.

What are the benefits of hydroponics?

Apart from obvious clean agricultural products without mud, dirt or synthetic pesticides, the hydroponics uses much less water than conventional growth methods, as all the water used is recycled or occupied by the plants. Some farmers also said that because the weather, light and nutrient variables are easier to control, they get higher yields from the hydroponic system. Moreover, due to these variables, farmers are also able to grow a variety of plants from almost any season or region. And there are no weeds!

What kind of things can I grow in a hydroponic garden?

Almost everything you can think of! I asked Gardyn’s creator FX Rouxel, if you have anything cannot Growing in these systems, except for ground plants such as peanuts or potatoes. “Everything has a big root,” he said. “Otherwise, it’s mainly something too big, like an apple or a lemon.” So you have: no roots, no trees. But anything else is a fair game.

What are the disadvantages of hydroponics?

First, it’s not a secret hydroponic system costs more than just planting some seeds in the soil. Then you have to worry about power outages, pump maintenance, algae and general maintenance.
