Airline-specific credit cards are not the first draft picks for travel credit cards, as they tend to have limited income that is only applicable to a particular airline.

However, the Southwest Quick Reward Prime Credit Card may be a good choice for small business owners who occasionally fly the Southwest.

The card has recently been refreshed with new travel day benefits and revised revenue. However, these changes increased the annual fee by 50% to $149.

Southwest Airlines is currently in full swing, including implementing baggage fees, updating its boarding process and adding allocated seats, making it a good time to hold a Southwest credit card.

Approved applicants usually have a credit score of more than 670, but a low approval score is not unheard of.

In addition to the points value, remember that the welcome bonus for the Southwest greeting card calculates the partner pass qualification.

Once obtained, the partner pass is valid for the remaining year and the rest of the following year, so making money early in the calendar year will help you get the most out of your pass.

However, be sure to check your eligibility before submitting your application. Like most Chase co-brand cards, this card is subject to the pursuit of 5/24 rules.

In addition, there are restrictions on how often you will receive the Southwest welcome bonus. For example, if you have received a welcome bonus for this card in the past 24 months, you may not be eligible.

  • Priority boarding: Receive Group 5 priority boarding for you, up to the same booking (flights operated in 2026 and beyond). If you have A-list status, you can board with an earlier group.
  • Preferred seat selection: If available, you and up to eight passengers travel on the same booking can choose your preferred seat within 48 hours of departure (for flights running in 2026 and beyond). It’s a valuable boost considering Southwest will start charging next year’s flight seating options.

  • Flight discount code: Cardholders receive a promotional 15% flight discount code for each anniversary year (excluding base fare)
  • Status improvement: You will spend $5,000 on the Prime Minister’s Card annually on a $5,000 bonus (there is no cap on the amount of TQP you can earn). This can help you win A-List or A-List preferred status faster.
  • 10,000 companions are promoted every year through qualifying: Cardholders receive 10,000 points per year. Adding points earned from a popular offer will put you in half of your companion pass.
  • Free employee card: There is no fee for additional employee cards and the original cardholder will earn points on employee expenses. Business owners can contact CardMember service to impose spending restrictions on employee cards.
  • $500 fee transfer fee: Southwest Airlines will cover up to $500 a year, although the proceeds will end on December 31. The price of transferring fast bonus points to another member is usually $10 per 1,000 points, so you can transfer up to 50,000 points per year without paying the additional charge after Southwest compensation.
  • No foreign transaction fees: This card is a viable option for business trips abroad.

Amid all the changes in the Southwest region, these privileges offered by the Southwest Prime Minister’s business card can help you save some money every time you fly.

The increase in gas station and restaurant bonus categories was welcomed, but two additional bonus categories were removed at the end of the year, including local transit and commuting categories.

Redemption points for Southwest Prime Minister’s business

The main redemption option for fast reward points is Southwest flights. Southwest Airlines follows a simple redemption process: the more expensive the flight, the more it costs. There is no super value for value, but this ensures that you get a relatively consistent value for rewards.

Redemption of Southwest Point is as easy as booking a Southwest flight online. When selecting a flight to book on the carrier’s website, select Points instead of Dollars. You will then see the pricing for your trip.

Like all airline reward tickets, flights booked with Southwest points still require additional taxes and fees, which starts at $5.60. However, tickets to booking points are fully refundable and there is no cancellation penalty (as long as you can do it at least 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time).
