Works by New York-based painter Amanda Ba. Born in Ohio’s first generation of American parents, BA spent the first five years of her life with her grandparents in Hefei, China. Her recent paintings (frequently inhabited in incredible interiors and evocative urban settings after the artist’s image), are her naked figures, curating realism and fantasy to explore the problems of desire and sexuality, capitalism, nationalism and radiant memory, and through the lens of queer and postcolonial thought.
