Grok 4 is currently free for all users

XAI announced on August 10 that Grok users have unlimited access to the new Grok 4 model for a limited time, a move that remains competitive as its AI company peers launch increasingly advanced models and generated AI tools.
“Just use automatic mode, Grok will route complex queries to Grok 4. More like control? Choose ‘Expert’ at any time to always use Grok 4,” Xai wrote in an announcement posted on X.

With Xai competing for a larger user base, the company may be trying to try to impoverished Chatgpt users after launching OpenAI’s GPT-5. On platforms like Reddit, many ChatGpt users complain that GPT-5 feels less human-like and is more cautious in the way they relate to users. After facing backlash, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that the company will re-release its previous model, GPT-4O, allowing other AI companies to step in to control lower alternatives.
Early testing of the Grok 4, launched on July 9, showed it was an impressive model that surpassed competitors like DeepSeek and Claude, but the model clearly lacked guardrails, which also suggests that the new robot might propose security for users. A mixable survey shows that Xai’s newly generated AI image tool, Grok Imagine, failed to meet basic security standards, allowing users to create deeper levels of sexuality.

Disclosure: Mashable’s parent company Ziff Davis filed a lawsuit against Openai in April, accusing it of infringing on Ziff Davis’ copyright in training and operating its AI systems.
