Allegiant Air expands again, new East Coast cities add

Allegiant Air is back in the air, announcing its second new city in a few days.

This time it’s Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Allegiant will add four Florida routes from Atlantic City, which will begin in December.

This is the third expansion of the airline in the past month, covering a total of 16 new routes and two new cities. Another new destination for Allegiant – Huntsville, Alabama – was just announced yesterday.

As for Atlantic City, Allegiant’s debut will be available on December 11 when the service is launched in Fort Lauderdale. Three other Florida routes – St. Petersburg, Orlando and Punta Golda – will be available in mid-February. The entry ticket is $39 for one-way.

The airline will also hold competition at Atlantic City International Airport (ACY), where Spirit Airlines has long dominated the airport. Although American Airlines offers a “flight-by-flight” connection to the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) Center, Spirit is currently the only airline that offers passenger flights from Atlantic City.

All four of Allegiant’s new routes will enter the market that has been served by the spirit, although Spirit flies to different airports in three of them.

The complete list of new routes is as follows.

4 new routes to Allegiant ACY

Fort Lauderdale – Golywood International Airport (FLL)

  • Starting from December 11, service twice a week.
  • Competition: Spirit Airlines also flew to FLL.

Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB)

  • Starting from December 19, it will serve twice a week.
  • Competition: Spirit Airlines flies to Orlando International Airport (MCO).

Punta Gorda Airport (PGD)

  • Starting from February 13, it will serve twice a week.
  • Match: Spirit Airlines flies to Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers.

St. Peter – Hydrophobic International Airport (PIE)

  • Starting from February 13, it will serve twice a week.
  • Match: Spirit Airlines flies to Tampa International Airport (TPA).
