Warning signals of problems or they are not sure
(0:00 – 0:17)
Hello! This is Jeff Altman, the big hunter. I’m called “big game hunter” because I’ve been chasing leaders and employee organizations for over 40 years. I want to talk to many of you, but especially senior management, about the advantages of mobilizing you after you lose your job.
(0:18 – 0:36)
Now, one of the hard things for many executives is that their self gets hurt when they lose their jobs. Your self-esteem, identity, your place in the world is lost by work. You feel embarrassed.
(0:37 – 2:28)
Many things feel as if they are out of control, you are used to making decisions that can affect thousands of people, millions of dollars in big decisions, and now your biggest decision will be to go to the coffee place in the morning. So I just want to give you some simple advice whether you are a senior executive or an employee level person, it’s true, but, here I’m connecting with seniors again. The best maintenance is the best, and you can work with your family on a daily basis and lifestyle.
Now, I know this may be the opposite of some of the things I said before, but if you have some good at maintaining your financial situation, you can do that even if you are going to lose your job for a year. If you are not sure, start laying off employees early, but try not to have a huge impact on others. Look, what you can handle is the trivial things in your expense budget.
Try to deal with those kids going to school, mortgages, and you may start checking where we refinance or take money out of your house, which are not ideal, but it is better to have this information and plans on how to manage your financial situation. Find ways to develop value outside of work. So whether you are in the place where you volunteer, training you receive can help you stay in your position in the field and do things according to these actions.
(2:29 – 2:41)
Try to learn something new. Learn to take small steps and finally seek support. I know this is strong for most of you.
(2:41 – 3:43)
I should have been in one of the retreats at a meeting for the men’s group meetings I was involved in, I should say. One of the most interesting things is watching men struggle to seek help from those who love them deeply and who have been asking for help for years. I suspect you are the same.
But contact people. Tell them you can use some help, some advice, some input and some support and you will find people willing to help. They will do their best.
So, this is Jeff Altman. Hope you find this video helpful. If you do that, and watch it on YouTube, share, comment, click on the Like button and do something that lets people know it’s worth it.
