Amex introduces Centurion Lounge waiting time in new application

American Express is preparing for a big week and starting with some news about the Centurion lounge.

The issuer announced Monday that it will debut its brand new dedicated mobile travel app, known as the Amex Travel App, later this week. The app will be downloaded first on iOS devices and then on Android smartphones in the coming weeks.

While the app contains many travel features, the most notable thing for savvy travelers is the addition of estimated waiting times at Centurion Lounges. This feature will enable you to estimate how long you need to wait on the standby list before you can be accepted as the standby Amex Lounge. This feature will be available in the traditional Amex app at startup, but will eventually be merged with the new Amex Travel app in the coming months.

You can even add to the lounge waiting list. While it’s great not to need this feature, the reality is that the lounge is overcrowded.

I will definitely appreciate it. When I travel, sometimes I need to determine if the walk (or the end train) to the Amex Lounge is worth it. In some cases, I went to the lounge and only found that I was not accepted until the plane left. Not only does this lead to a frustrating experience, it also means I have less time to trek back to my door area and have the potential to find another lounge option nearby.

The AMEX Travel app will include many other features such as destination inspiration, a unified flight/hotel/transport planning tool, and a seamless booking experience.

The issuer emphasizes that travelers can easily discover beautiful hotel + resort and hotel collection properties in the app.

Another feature of Amex is teasing past trips that are able to collect digital stamps for each country or region you swipe your card while traveling. These stamps can then be shared via social media or via text. They can also be customized with highlights from your trip and store stamps as a unique token on a public blockchain, meaning your travel history will be remembered forever through this digital collection.

Amex said it will add more features to the app over time, including personalized hotel suggestions and embedded reward benefits, but thanks to more details for more details about Parker’s content. (I would love to see an improved welfare tracker on your card.)

Thursday will be a big day for Amex. In addition to introducing the new Amex Travel app, the issuer also made fun of it on social media, and it was also possible to announce or introduce refreshed platinum cards at the time.

In a social media post on X, the publisher wrote “Coming 9.18.25” with an outline that appears to be a platinum card. While I will definitely download the new app when it launches on Thursday, I will also keep my eyes wide for other Amex updates.
