“Every job search is a journey to discover your true potential.” – Unknown
I thank my friends and family for the text and information about my visit to Florida to meet my sick brother. He was struggling physically, how long has it been since I could not recognize him. I do know that he is not the one I remember him, and he is not ready to give up his life. It was so rough to see that he was powerless.
Then, I returned to my schedule with my speech and coaching on Monday. Yesterday, I spent some time remembering Alex. This is a good, loving tribute.
People hired me without a BS job coach because I found that jobs became easier. Although I do criticism of my resume, I do not write my resume. I leave it to those experts. I am a person who helps thousands of people find jobs.
I can get free information on Jobsearch.comnity. Also, scroll down to receive my Wednesday email and provide job search advice. Being an insider at any level gives you access to all my video courses, books and guides to guide job search, the ability to ask questions to me, and you can also receive a job search coach from me if you choose the lowest level option above.
I have a few new content on the website. Become an insider and get everything including my latest books, Job Search Guide for Over 50 Professionals: Overcoming Age Bias and Technologies that are thriving in the job market today. “This is my 15th or 16th place.
Make your resume shine
Resume remains a key part of the job hunting process. Back when I started hiring, the papers printed on your resume were important, but today, we care more about how the resume looks on a computer screen.
In fact, we no longer think of resumes as documents, because most people don’t use a computer screen that shows the full page at once. Today, this is the speed at which information will be passed to your potential employer in small pieces, which will allow you to interview. Today, carefully designed layouts replace high-quality paper
But the most important thing about resumes is not how they look, but what they are. The truth is, most people build a resume and send it out constantly. Continuing this way is a flat mistake. Instead, what you want to do is start by thinking about who will read this resume and what they care about. Resume readers have always cared about whether the content is suitable for their needs and is beautiful, but not distracting in any way. It should be in a readable font, but most importantly, its content must match the job description.
However, most recovery is ultimately unacceptable in these aspects, so most people are lazy for reasons. Most people submit the same resume over and over again. Remember the story about the broken watch? Broken watches are only twice a day, right?
So if you send the same resume to 150 jobs you might encounter a few tags, but for this reason, this blanket approach has gone: Not all of these jobs have the same job description. If you send the same resume to each job, you will take a lazy approach even if each job has a different location description. That is definitely not a way to impress someone!
In marketing, we talk about conveying the right message to the right target market. For example, suppose you created a program for your dentist. It would be foolish to promote this goal for dentists in local newspapers. Some dentists may read the paper, but if you advertise in a diary for the dentist, you are more likely to respond to the ad. The same goes when you walk into the store. They don’t have unlabeled produce on the shelf. Not only do they put the jars there without a label.
Well, as a job seeker, you need to think the same way as a marketer. When it comes to job search, the audience is a potential employer and your resume is an advertisement. You want Information that your audience cares aboutbecause your resume is indeed the point of engagement for most organizations. There is a problem with the organization; they have a vacancy that needs to be filled and needs to be very specific. Your resume must address how to fill in needs in a very specific way.
You might argue that it will take a lot of time. Yes, it will take some time and you will have to face some laziness, bad habits or resistance to get this situation so you can get a little understanding. Wait for a moment on the table: If you play the role of hiring someone, do you want to hire someone that suits your needs? Would you choose a resume that is perfect for the person you ask for?
So if you are already in the recruiter role, you have to think like you do. Yes, it will take some time, and yes, you will have to face some resistance to it. But the good news is that it is indeed not difficult. It’s just a question, be aware of the experience you have that fits the job description, just add or remove paragraphs here and there to fit some information and present it in a way that the audience easily finds it.
Jerry is the senior leader I worked with after 9/11 and he is doing what I warn you about – judging the same resume over and over. So one of the things I did to help him was sit down and figure out his experience of being really marketable in that special and extraordinary climate.
We honed his experience in disaster recovery and contingency planning, as it was undoubtedly a hot project after the horror show. Once we made these simple adjustments, the interviews started to pour in because that was the market’s call and he aimed the resume directly at the Bull’s eyes.
