Breeze Air’s new rewards program offers elite status benefits

Breeze Airlines plans to make major changes to its rewards program in the new year. The changes announced on Tuesday will see the airline introduce an elite tier for the first time.
Breezy Rewards will provide membership holders with a variety of benefits, including priority boarding, free Wi-Fi and even upgrades.
The current Breezy Rewards program, which earns members 1 cent worth of Breeze points, will remain in place, with members earning 1 to 5 points for every $1 spent on flights and add-ons, depending on the type of fare purchased. Points can be redeemed for part or all of the cost of a flight or add-on, including taxes. Under the new plan, they will continue to expire within 24 months of being acquired.
The new elite status system adds four tiers – Breezy 1, Breezy 2, Breezy 3 and Breezy Club – which can be achieved based on spending. Level 1 Breezy 1 requires members to earn at least 15,000 Breeze points in a qualifying year. Featured benefits include an annual identifiable bundle upgrade, a 25% increase in BreezePoint revenue and free Wi-Fi.
At higher tiers, members can choose one of three Breezy Select benefits: additional bundle upgrades, bonus BreezePoints, or friend discounts (which function like companion coupons).
Bundle upgrades can be requested at any time after booking and will be confirmed immediately. It’s unclear whether they will be available for any open premium seats.
One of the great things about the Buddy Discount is that it does not need to be assigned to a single designated travel companion like the Southwest Companion Pass. Instead, it can be used for any other passenger on the status holder’s booking.
“Part of what makes flying with Breeze so enjoyable is the freedom our passengers have to create their own adventures,” Lukas Johnson, Breezy’s chief commercial officer, said in a statement. “In building Breezy Rewards, we wanted to create a program that offered our members that same flexibility while still being inclusive and accessible so everyone could benefit.”
A spokesman for the airline said members with the airline’s co-branded credit card (the Breeze Easy Visa Signature Credit Card issued by Barclays US) may be able to get additional benefits, but nothing had been finalized as of the time of the wider announcement.

Breeze began operations in 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with its model built around operating nonstop flights between smaller markets without direct air connections. The airline initially used leased Embraer E190 and E195 jets, but now operates its own fleet of new Airbus A220 jets, equipped with Wi-Fi and first-class seats. Breeze has phased out all E195s, but still has a few E190s.
The airline has expanded rapidly since its inception, adding new markets and routes. Breeze will add 29 new cities and 88 routes in 2024 alone, the airline said.
