Look, I get it, we’re all busy, but what if I told you there’s a simple, very effortless technique that can have a huge impact on your career? Well, that’s exactly what we’re going to break down today. A lazy person’s guide to truly succeeding on LinkedIn. Well, let me ask you something.
Who really knows you exist outside of your immediate team, or outside of your company? I mean, professionally. This is a very common problem. So many talented people are essentially invisible.
Honestly, it’s a much bigger career risk than you think. You know, this invisibility is a symptom of what we call low reputational capital. Just think of it like money in the bank, but for your career.
For executives and senior professionals, not having enough information means you’re missing out on incredible opportunities because the right people don’t even know you’re involved. Now, you might think of LinkedIn as just your online resume, a place to put your work history. It is, much more than that.
On this platform there is constant, quiet observation. This is a place for silent review. Make no mistake, this is more than just a theory.
Executive recruiters, decision-makers, the people you want to notice you, they’re all on the platform, quietly watching. They see what you talk about and who you interact with. Your activity, or yes, your silence is telling them the whole story about you.

You can actually start using it this week. This is the entire script. I’m not kidding.
It’s that simple. Just log in once or twice a week. You can share a quick idea or an interesting article, or even simpler.
Just leave a thoughtful comment on other people’s posts. That’s everything you need to start building that reputational capital we talked about. Now, if you choose to go the review route, there’s one magic number you really need to remember, and that’s 12.
So what’s so special about 12? That’s why this number is so critical. A simply great post is completely invisible. It just got lost.
Stop surfing the Internet at home
LinkedIn’s algorithm, and more importantly, people who read, rewards thoughtful people. It turns out that to have a truly beneficial impact, a review of at least 12 words is needed. It helps you, and it helps the person you respond to.
Okay, you’re doing this simple two-minute routine. What’s going on behind the scenes? Well, that brings us to the psychology of getting caught, and why this strategy works so well. These small actions produce huge results.
They show recruiters and decision-makers that you are up to date and that you are paying attention to industry trends. They build your credibility. They slowly start to position you as a thought leader.
Perhaps most importantly, they demonstrate that you are comfortable and confident in your leadership role. But what this strategy really does is turn the power dynamic on its head. Think about it.
There is a huge difference between applying for a job and being found for a job. One is that you ask for an opportunity. The other is that you are wanted.
