Vancouver artist Joseph Staples has been cutting up and reassembling images for the past two decades. His practice has always benefited from looking back at older work, looking for new ways to approach images that he left prematurely or that could be updated. “Using copies of the same image to make collages over and over again, sometimes for years, became a way for me to set limits that drove my practice. That’s where the title of the book comes from, these long-term relationships with the images.”
