Frontier Airlines now requires miles to buy bags, seats and other benefits

Frontier Airlines on Tuesday added a new option for members of its loyalty program, allowing frequent fliers to redeem their miles for packages that include popular add-ons like seat selection and baggage.
The three packages, priced from 2,000 to 8,000 miles, are available to members of the Frontier Miles loyalty program. These packages include economy class seats, premium seats and Frontier’s UpFront Plus seating options.
These benefits are in addition to award flights that travelers can currently book using earned miles.
“We are redefining what travelers expect from value-driven air travel,” Bobby Schroeter, Frontier’s chief commercial officer, said in a statement. “This new redemption option gives FRONTIER Miles members more choice, more flexibility and more value…the most rewarding loyalty program in the sky just got better.”
The new bundles are available in three levels:
- Economy packages start at 2,000 miles and include a carry-on bag, standard seat selection and no change or cancellation fees.
- Premium packages start at 4,000 miles and include carry-on baggage, premium seat selection and no change or cancellation fees.
- Business packages start at 8,000 miles and include one carry-on bag, two checked bags (up to 50 pounds each), UpFront Plus seat selection, and no change or cancellation fees.

Members of the airline’s Frontier Miles program can earn both award redemption miles and elite status points. The program is free to join and members earn 10 miles and 10 points for every $1 spent. Earn rates increase as travelers reach each elite status level. For example, members who reach the highest Elite Diamond level can earn up to 20 points and up to 20 miles per dollar spent.
Travelers who sign up for the Frontier Airlines World Mastercard® can earn even more—up to 5 miles for every $1 spent on the card. The card has an annual fee of $99.

In addition to the new packages, travelers who reach a certain status level can receive their own benefits. For example, the second-lowest Elite Gold member gets a free carry-on bag, while upper-tier Elite Platinum and Elite Diamond members get their first checked bag free.
Elite Gold, Elite Platinum and Elite Diamond members can also unlock upgrades to Frontier UpFront Plus seats, depending on their status level. Seat options include an enclosed middle seat located at the front of the aircraft.
The updated award options come as Frontier prepares to launch new first-class seats, which are expected to be installed in the first two rows of the aircraft in a 2×2 configuration. The new seats are expected to be launched in early 2026.
