most people think of American Express Platinum Card® Enjoy luxury and high-end benefits. After all, the card is known for its lounge access, hotel elite status benefits, and connections to valuable transfer partners.
The card offers up to $155 in Walmart+ statement credit per calendar year*, however, it doesn’t quite match the Platinum Card’s prestige reputation. This means that many current and potential card members overlook this.
Failure to use your Amex Platinum Walmart+ bill credit could mean missing out on the opportunity to save money each month. Here’s what you need to know about this benefit to decide if it’s worth using.
What is Walmart+?
Walmart+ offers a variety of deals and costs $12.95 per month (plus local sales tax). Most of these perks focus on Walmart shopping, but some of them focus on partner brands.

Walmart+Benefits
Walmart+ members have access to a variety of deals. These tools are useful when you’re shopping at Walmart, and some can even be used outside the store. Here is a list:
- Car care benefits such as free flat tire repair and free road hazard warranty when purchasing new tires installed. This benefit is available at all 2,500 Walmart Auto Care Centers.
- Free next-day and two-day shipping on items on Walmart.com with no minimum purchase required.
- Get free shipping from your local Walmart store on orders of $35 or more. It’s important to note that if there isn’t a Walmart store near you, you won’t be able to take advantage of store delivery.
- Receive a free Burger King Whopper with any purchase every three months and enjoy 25% off Burger King at participating locations every day.
- Save up to 10 cents per gallon at Exxon, Mobil, Sam’s Club, Murphy and Walmart gas stations.
- Get 24/7 unlimited telemedicine services for your pets with Pawp Free Online Pet Care.
- Option to return items at home without printing labels or repackaging.
- Paramount+ Basic Plan Subscription or Peacock Premium Subscription.
- Pluto TV Access ad-free streaming.
- Get Walmart Cash Rewards when you book with W+ Travel (powered by Expedia). Book hotels, flights, car rentals and tours with W+ Travel and earn up to 5% in Walmart cash.

Walmart+ members will also receive exclusive offers. In the past, we’ve seen three-month trials of Apple News+, five-month trials of Apple Arcade, 25% off four months of Hallmark+, six months free on SiriusXM, $20 off booking live events through Tickets For Less, and $10 off using Walmart cash when booking a bus or train ticket through Busbud.
In addition to these benefits, Walmart+ members can use their phones to scan in-store items and conduct contactless checkout.

How to get Walmart+ with Amex Platinum
To get started, navigate to the Benefits tab of your online American Express Platinum account or directly visit this Walmart login page.
From here, click “Get Started” and follow a series of prompts to sign up for a Walmart+ subscription. If you don’t have a Walmart account yet, you must also create one.
Next, you’ll be asked to enter your payment information. You need to pay with Amex Platinum to receive the $12.95 monthly bill credit.
Important: Be sure to select the monthly plan as you will not receive statement credits for the annual plan.
After completing these steps, you should be ready. Monitor your account to make sure your statement credit is posted, and if you don’t see it after a few weeks, contact American Express customer support.

bottom line
While the American Express Platinum Card’s Walmart+ benefits may not be exactly luxurious, they offer great value. This is especially true if you’re a fan of partner brands like Peacock and Burger King.
When I first signed up for the Platinum Card, I didn’t expect the perk to be worth a lot of money, but I was quickly proven wrong. Assuming you shop at Walmart at least once a month and have a Peacock or Paramount+ subscription, you should be able to get positive value from this perk.
