What should be your biggest New Year’s resolution?

By Jeff Altman, Big Game Hunter
diet?
Quit smoking?
exercise?
All of these are good and valuable goals, and I encourage you to take action, but with rare exceptions, they should not be goals that you focus on.
What goals should be on your bucket list?
For me, the goals for maintaining this position are:
Build and maintain your network.
There are many reasons why this should figure prominently in your thinking.
1. Having a good network will provide you with support on topics you are not good at experience valueet Just as you would imagine.
The ability to seek support from people who are willing to offer it can provide a great fallback if things require you to extend yourself to places, tasks, and situations that you may not be comfortable with. Smart advice from your network can make a difference for you.
2. You may need to find a job, and your network can help. The Internet is still the primary way people find jobs. This network can be built on LinkedIn or offline, but if you decide (or your company decides) you need to find a job, you’ll need a network of people willing to tap into it.
3. Having a good network can help you uncover the mysteries of successful people. People who have a certain level of success, fame, and fame are generally considered to be better than they are. In fact, these are people who share many of the same flaws as you. Once you see them as human beings, rather than “someone better than you,” the personal growth you’ll see in yourself is amazing.
4. You will have the opportunity to help others. Whether you believe in the Law of Attraction or do it because it’s the right thing to do, giving more will get you more, including greater happiness.
5. Social networks allow you to let your guard down and ask seemingly “unconventional” questions. Social networking gives you the opportunity to ask those questions that you were afraid to ask your wife, husband, partner, friends, colleagues, and boss because you didn’t want to look bad.
There are many more reasons to network, specific to you and your needs and circumstances.
For myself, I sit with people once a week to give and receive support. The advice I received changed my life and I know I have done the same for others.
Maybe if you give it a try you will reap many of the benefits that I have.
