On Sunday morning, our local farmers market opens at 9am. I arrived five minutes early to purchase freshly baked farmer’s bread. Six people were ahead of me. When I left, I counted 19 people in line. By the way, it was 33 degrees and very windy. The question is why? The answer is because it is unique and not easily available elsewhere. How does this impact job seekers? The answer lies in branding, then marketing, and finally advertising. This is the right sequence to create a strong value proposition. If you do it right, job opportunities will come your way. Have you ever received a promotion in the past without applying and begging?

I responded, “The meta question is what does Farmer’s Bread mean to you? It’s the emotional connection to the brand that is the meaning. Too many people are branded in a way that makes them seem ordinary and ordinary, rather than unique and special. Farmer’s Bread is special to you. That’s how people need to think about their careers. What makes you particularly valuable in the eyes of others? Farmer’s Bread has some value to you that, unlike chocolate milk, makes you want to leave the house early on a cold Saturday morning.”
