A coaching client told me a story that is the basis for this video. follow up!
Overcoming Age Discrimination in the Job Search Process as an Experienced Professional
It pays to follow up on the resume you submit via LinkedIn. One person I coached did just that – even received a confirmation message from the platform that said, “Resume received; Resume submitted to company” – all correct.
But she took the time to message the owner of the mid-sized company and try to get in touch, mentioning that she had applied for the position, and received a message back saying, “Great to get in touch, but it looks like we didn’t receive your resume.” Funny, isn’t it?
So follow up on the resume you submitted on LinkedIn. Find the person who might receive the information or, if it’s a small to medium-sized company, contact the owner. Contact them, let them know you applied, and see what happens.
