How to Get More Interviews: Give Up the Goal
One of the best ways to get more interviews is to join a professional association or trade group in your current field or a desired field. I want to be clear: I don’t think you should be out there freeloading. You should do something to become active and famous. Volunteer for a group. Yeah, that’s time and effort, right? You are absolutely right.
But when people start to know, like, trust and respect you, things will start to fall into your lap. Opportunities will come your way, and the result is that it’s easier to get interviews and get contacted about opportunities. I have to say, it’s not just about you looking for a job now; This is about your entire career. By getting involved with these organizations, you’ll find that people will get to know, like, trust, and respect you, and they’ll seek out opportunities from you.
