February 1st is the last day to choose a new Bilt card

Existing Bilt cardholders have until February 1 to seamlessly convert their old cards to one of Bilt’s three new Bilt 2.0 options issued by Cardless, according to Bilt’s website.

Bilt is more than just a series of credit cards. It’s a lifestyle loyalty program that rewards people for their everyday experiences, whether they’re exploring a new destination or staying in their neighborhood at home. BILT

This means you’ll have the opportunity to choose a new card without a hard inquiry showing up on your credit report and keep the same card number. Conveniently, after you switch, Apple Pay and Google Pay will automatically refresh your new Bilt Card 2.0 details, and you’ll also have the opportunity to automatically transfer the balance from your old card to the new one.

You can choose a new card by visiting bilt.com/card or through the Bilt app.

If you don’t make a selection by February 1, your Wells Fargo-powered Bilt Mastercard will automatically convert to Wells Fargo Autograph® Card (See Rates and Fees. The Signature Card has no annual fee but does not include a welcome bonus for switching cardholders.

You may also choose to close your Bilt/Wells Fargo account and choose not to convert to Bilt Card 2.0, thereby completely terminating your Bilt Card membership. If you choose this route, even if you don’t have a Bilt card, you can still keep your existing points and use the Bilt rewards ecosystem.

Which card should you choose?

Bilt has launched three new options for cardholders:

BILT

While all of these cards offer the ability to earn points on rent or mortgage payments, the points you earn depend on how much you spend and which of the two options you choose each month (using Bilt Cash* or the tiered system) to build your housing rewards.

The good news is that the Bilt 2.0 card won’t be activated until February 7, so you don’t need to make that choice yet — and even once you do, you can switch back and forth between the two options each month.

Of course, if you’re still feeling overwhelmed by then, you can also choose not to use your Bilt card to pay your rent or mortgage for now, but you’ll still get a ton of value no matter which card you choose. Based on January 2026 valuations, TPG values Bilt rewards points at 2.2 cents per point, higher than any other loyalty currency. Whether you earn 2 points per $1 on everyday purchases with Palladium, 3 points per $1 on groceries with Obsidian (and then earn 1 point per $1 on purchases up to $25,000 per year), or even 1 point per $1 on purchases with Blue, you can earn points that transfer to a host of top airline and hotel partners, including Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards and World of Hyatt.

*Up to $100 in Bilt Cash earned can be carried over to the next year.

Should you keep your Wells Fargo account?

Regardless of whether you decide to transition to Bilt 2.0, you can keep your Wells Fargo account open and receive the Wells Fargo Autograph Card at the same rates and fees as your current Wells Fargo Bilt Mastercard for as long as you choose.

While you won’t have access to Autograph’s welcome offer, this path will give you a chance to win TPG’s annual no-annual-fee credit card award without having to run a hard query on your credit report.

Personally, I plan to keep my account open. Autograph has access to a short but useful list of transfer partners, including British Airways Club, Air France KLM Flying Blue and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. Additionally, there’s no minimum transfer amount, meaning you can make transfers as small as 1 point – a great feature to top up your balance when you’re short on funds to book a specific reward.

bottom line

If you want to ensure a smooth, non-disruptive transition to Bilt 2.0, you have until February 1st to choose between the three new card options. Whether you have a housing payment strategy in place or not, keeping a Bilt card in your wallet makes it easy to earn your most valuable points.
