I’m not a big fan of applying online, and if you find a company that’s hiring people with a similar background, you probably don’t want to apply to one of those companies and risk excluding yourself from the others. Here’s how to do it.

How to get more interviews: Submit a video with your resume

One way to get more interviews is, instead of applying, see if the same company has multiple openings for the position that interests you. Instead of applying for that one job, which might make you stand out among all the other jobs, contact the head of the department or function where the job is held. Assuming you notice they are looking for more than one of these people, who is coordinating the hiring for this position? Or is there someone in the organization that you can contact about these roles? If they follow up and say, “Why don’t you just apply for a job?” you can keep going. You have four different ones, you have three different ones, six different ones, and my concern is that if I apply for one of them, I won’t be considered for the others. So that’s why I want to cut the line like this.
