Delta Air Lines adds Halifax, Asheville flights in summer 2026

Delta Air Lines will add two new summer destinations in 2026. One is a popular coastal destination with holidaymakers. The other is known for its mountains, food, and craft beer.

Starting June 13, the Atlanta-based airline will launch new nonstop service from its hub at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) in Nova Scotia.

On the same day, Delta Air Lines will add Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) in North Carolina to its rapidly growing route map from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) in Texas.

Delta will operate the two new routes once a week on Saturdays, apparently anticipating that most passengers will be embarking on a week-long summer getaway.

The routes were first discovered by industry observer Ihrion Aviation.

Boston to Halifax

Delta Air Lines has added Halifax to its 2026 summer route map, making it one of this year’s popular destinations. Halifax was recently named to TPG’s list of the 17 Best Travel Destinations for 2026.

YHZ’s total number of flights to the United States will increase by 30% this summer compared with last summer, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium. These include recently announced United Airlines flights to Nova Scotia from Dulles International Airport (IAD) near Washington.

Delta will compete on its BOS-YHZ route, which is already served by Air Canada and American Airlines from their New England hubs.

This will be Delta’s second hub to fly to Halifax from: The airline already operates summer flights from New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to YHZ.

Austin to Asheville

As for its new AUS-AVL flights, Delta will operate once a week until September 5 (the Saturday of Labor Day weekend).

The Asheville area is home to the famous Biltmore Estate, countless hiking opportunities, and a plethora of local breweries.

The new route will bolster Delta’s de facto focus in the city of Austin, where the airline has been targeting significant growth over the past two years.

We should note that Delta won’t be the first airline to fly between Austin and Asheville. Budget airline Allegiant Air also operates flights between the Texas capital and the mountains of North Carolina.

good to know

Delta plans to deploy Delta Connection-branded Embraer 175 regional aircraft on these new routes, which feature 12 first-class recliners in the front, 20 Delta Comfort seats with extended legroom and 38 standard economy seats.
