I was talking to a guy in the car who needed to do a Zoom interview in 30 minutes. This is where I told him to go (hint: it’s not Starbucks or the library)

What to say in a job pre-screening phone interview

If you’re on the road and someone wants to interview you, don’t stop at Starbucks. Don’t go to the library. Instead, look for a hotel. Try a Marriott or Hyatt. Some of the bigger hotels, you know they have great wifi.

Go in, have a cup of coffee, use the toilet. Set it up for your phone, iPad or laptop. Make sure you are able to make eye contact with the person you are talking to. And set yourself up for success.

Starbucks, looks tacky. library? You can speak at full volume. Hotel lobby? No problem. They may even have an executive conference room for your temporary use.
