American Airlines launches TSA Precheck touch-free ID

American Airlines is finally living with one of the biggest time-savings of today’s Transportation Safety Administration checkpoints.

The airline launched its TSA Precheck touch-free ID at four major airports on Thursday, including its two busy East Coast hubs.

As part of the new partnership, TSA Precheck members with American Flight will be able to fly at checkpoints without showing their body ID or boarding pass.

The program has just launched the program at its Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA) hubs as well as Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) and LAGUARDIA Airport (LGA) hubs.

Travelers using TSA touchless ID can take photos once they get close to the agent and they don’t need to take out their driver’s license or passport. To verify the identity of a traveler, the system will quickly compare the image with other images registered by the government, such as images on a passport or images in a trusted traveler program in a global entry, such as a global entry.

Americans announced they would join TSA last fall, a faster, high-tech screening process. TPG’s Clint Henderson noted in October that such biometric setups are sometimes proven to be faster than paid services at airports, where competitive airlines such as Delta Air Lines and United Airlines have already partnered with TSA.
