Teiji Hayama’s new painting examines reputation

Teiji Hayama’s paintings often depict the celebrities of yesterday, the ideas of meditating celebrities and the way the digital age develops. The artist has provided 17 paintings in his new show “Famous” in the London unit, including Monroe, Taylor and Bowie. The show takes place in the space from January 16 to February 15.

“Getting fame is not only about celebrities, but also about how we interact with fame and what is reputation in a contemporary environment,” the gallery says. “With the advent of extensive social media interactions, the prophetic Warhol maxim is “In the future, everyone will enjoy 15 minutes of fame in the world”, which looks more and more appropriate. Hayama’s work is about the exhaustion of all of us as we carefully curate our digital figures, waiting for a brief spin on our brief stage.”
