Riveted acrylic painting by Louie Cordero

Jordan West, from Santa Fe, New Mexico, is a self-taught artist whose paintings depict everyday places – rows of empty supermarkets, bathroom stalls, gas stations and airport marinas, usually with uneasiness and loneliness despite their bright and cheerful palette. West painted gouache in his All Shoppers series, and West offered a new perception of a common grocery store, flattening it into a bright world of simple vegetables, orange, blue and yellow, and taking shapes that took the abstract.
