There are two main ways to book a “free” stay at a Marriott hotel worldwide: You can redeem Bonvoy points from Marriott hotels, and you can use a free night reward certificate. The latter are earned from activities like renewing your Marriott credit card membership each year or meeting an annual spending threshold.
Marriott no longer has an award chart. As a result, hotel prices are difficult to determine, but several hotels reliably redeemable through a 50,000-point certificate.
Plus, Marriott Hotels allows you to combine free nighttime awards with up to 15,000 Bonvoy points, meaning you can use them to keep hotels up to 65,000 a night.
Several Marriott credit cards offer free night certificates annually. Depending on the card, you’ll get a certificate worth 35,000, 50,000 or 85,000 points. Unfortunately, they’re only good for one night.

In a glass tower in downtown Miami, JW Marriott Marquis is located near many of Miami’s cultural attractions such as the Wynwood Community, the Design District and the Perez Gallery.
At the hotel you will find two restaurants – one led by James Beard’s award-winning chef Daniel Boulud – and a state-of-the-art fitness center with a rooftop pool with great views of Biscain Bay. While the hotel isn’t on the beach, it’s just a short drive away from South Beach. The hotel itself is luxurious and features spacious rooms with floor-to-ceiling glass windows and other high-end touches such as the built-in TV in the bathroom mirror.
With six on-site dining options and a seemingly endless stretch of pristine beach, guests are sure to never get bored. However, the property also provides unique options for those looking for more structure in their day.
Mexico’s JW Marriott Cancun is close to home (still relatively new renovation works) blends high-end luxury with a sense of history. Unwind on the pristine white-sand beaches, or venture off-site to explore the Mayan ruins at Tulum and Chichen Itza. Spice up your stay with a Cirque du Soleil ticket package, or spend your time snorkeling and diving through the pristine waters.
Le Meridien Maldives is priced far too low, in our opinion, for the product it delivers. Like any luxury Maldives resort, you have to pay a high fee for island transfers (in this case, $565 round trip per person for older ages 12 and older) – but the points price here is worth noting.
In Spain’s famous Tenerife, the largest Tenerife in the Canary Islands, you will find a beautiful pink, Moorish palace, also known as the Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama.
Set on cliffs above the blue sea, this property is an ideal spot for a laid-back European island vacation. The 459-room resort has six bars and restaurants, one of them — MB — holding two Michelin stars for its Basque-inspired cuisine.
In one of the most beautiful and mysterious places in the world, Peru’s Tambo del Inka encourages you to embrace the rugged and circumstance while being pampered at every step. Use this resort as a home for exploring the ancient Inca homes – as the hotel has its own train station you can use to get to Machu Picchu.
Gaze into the majestic Andes of your room or suite, enjoy a meal in one of the two merchandise bars and restaurants, or enjoy your own service at the spa yourself – after a day exploring the Sacred Valley, you will want one.

Bottom line
The Marriott Hotel’s free nighttime awards have always been valuable, but the ability to combine certificates with up to 150 million Povoy points allows you to book more hotels than ever before. Just remember, some hotels have resort fees that you’ll have to pay on top of points.
