The Delta Skymiles Platinum American Express Card is one of the best credit cards for Delta Travelers.

It offers attractive benefits for Delta loyalists in exchange for an annual fee of $350 (see rates and fees), including annual peer certificates and reliable income rates.

Delta Platinum Amex is also perfect for you if you are chasing Delta Medal Elite identity.

The recommended credit score for this card is at least 670.

Delta Platinum Amex Welcome Discount

New Delta Platinum Amex Card Members can earn 90,000 miles of bonus miles after spending $4,000 in the first six months of card membership. The offer ends on July 16.

This has become the highest bonus available on this card since Delta switched to MQD, which we recently saw in April.

According to TPG’s June 2025 Triangle Mile is valued at 1.25 cents, this bonus is worth $1,125.

However, if you own Delta Amex Platinum or have it before, you may not qualify for this welcome offer. AMEX can also consider the number of U.S. Express cards you open and close when deciding whether you are eligible for a welcome offer.

Delta’s cards are restricted by American Express’s family restrictions to get welcome bonuses, so if you’ve ever had a higher Delta Amex card in the past, you may not be eligible for a welcome bonus on Delta Amex Platinum.

Fortunately, if you are not eligible for a welcome offer, AMEX will notify you and will display a message shortly after submitting your application. Therefore, do not ignore any messages or warnings that appear after hitting the submission.

Delta Platinum Amex Benefits

Delta Platinum Amex offers many benefits to Delta Flyers. Let’s take a closer look at the privileges and benefits of all cards. Admission is required to provide selected benefits and terms apply.

Elite status allowance

Delta Credit Cards help Cardembers get elite status through one metric: MQD. Delta Platinum Amex Cardmembers earn 1 MQD for every $20 without limiting how much MQD you get through your credit card spend.

At the beginning of each medal qualification year, they also received an MQD promotion of 2500 MQD.

Peer Certificate of the Year

Another major benefit from Delta Platinum Amex offers is the Peer Certificate of the Year. You will receive this allowance every year after your account is renewed.

Delta companion certificate for round trips, the main cabin trip is valid for the fare of L, U, T, X or V. Please note that this does not include the carrier’s basic economic ticket (reserved as E-fare category) and the economic level at the highest price.

The certificate covers travel to all 50 U.S. states (including Hawaii and Alaska), Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

If you use this certificate for expensive flights, you can easily cover most (or all) of the card’s annual fee.

Fortunately, the benefits of Delta relations, such as check baggage allowance and priority boarding, are on your Delta Skymiles account. So you don’t need to book your flight with Delta Platinum Amex to get these privileges.

Earn miles on Delta Platinum Amex

When you use Delta Platinum Amex for a qualified purchase, you will get Skymiles for Delta. In particular, you will earn Delta Miles using cards as follows:

Since TPG’s June 2025 valuation of PEG Delta Skymiles miles per mile, you’ll get a 3.8% effective return on Delta and Hotels purchases, 2.5% in restaurants and US supermarkets, and 1.3% for other purchases.

While loyal Delta travelers may like to earn bonuses on these purchases Skymiles, none of these benefits are close to the best you can do with other cards like Chase SapphireReserve® in these categories (see Prices and Fees).

Redemption miles on Delta Platinum Amex

Delta’s Skymiles program has a poor reputation in points and Miles Buffs. After all, Delta has devalued its mileage several times over the years. Moreover, Delta has not released an official reward chart, which means the cost of rewards may soar overnight.

Still, there are some great ways to get value from the Delta Skymiles program.

For example, flash sales often occur in the Delta. In the past, we have seen domestic awards from 2,000 Skymiles one-way awards, i.e., multinational awards from 10,000 Skymiles round trips, and from 16,000 Skymiles round trips to Europe.

When flying Delta partner airlines with Skymiles, consider grabbing some great desserts. This includes awards from Skyteam partners such as Air France and Korea, but the program also has some non-partners.

Please note that some partner awards are not displayed on the Delta website, including awards from Air Europa, Air Tahiti Nui, Czech Airlines and Kenya Airlines. As a result, you need to use Expertflyer (owned by TPG’s parent company, Red Ventures) or another Skyteam website (such as Flying Blue) to find availability before calling these partners to book the awards.

TPG chief spokesman Clint Henderson redeems over 73,000 Skymiles to fly from Mexico City to Brisbane, Australia. Through this redemption, Clint gained a delta seat on his legs from Los Angeles to Brisbane.

If Delta is the vector of your choice, the Delta Skymiles Platinum American Express card may be a great addition to your wallet. Compared to the lower annual fee of Da U.S. dollars, the annual fee may seem high, but you will get useful benefits such as the annual companion certificate that can provide great value.

However, if you are often not enough to maximize the benefits of the card, it can be hard to justify owning the card.

Remember that to maximize your overall travel revenue strategy, you may want to pair Delta Platinum with other spending categories that offer higher bonuses.
