A large number of Internet blackout reports: Google, Cloudflare, Twitch all

Is the entire Internet going down?

At around 2:30 pm on Thursday, June 12, users began reporting widespread service disruptions for popular websites and applications, including Twitch, Gmail, Discord, Nintendo Switch Online, Spotify and dozens of other platforms. By 3:30 pm, some services seemed to be restored despite the ongoing power outages.

Under the service, the detector shows error messages across the Internet surge, and users are complaining on social media about problems on their favorite websites. (Disclosure: Ziff Davis owns Mashable and Down totector.) Mashable Reporters has encountered problems accessing certain Google services such as Google Meet, such as when the outage occurs for the first time.

CloudFlare is a popular IT management company that provides hosting services and is one of the services that disrupt large-scale Internet disruptions. CloudFlare reported “widespread Cloudflare service outages” on its website Thursday afternoon. The company initially reported that they were “continuing to investigate the issue.” However, a recent message stated: “We are starting to see service recovery. We still hope that as the system processes and caches are filled, we still hope to see intermittent errors in the affected services.”

Meanwhile, the Google Cloud status page states: “Multiple GCP products are experiencing service issues.”

The disruption of platforms such as Cloudflare, Google Cloud, Shopify, and AWS could cause a ripple effect across the Internet. And because the interference occurs during working hours, frustrated workers complain about access to tools like Google Meet. According to the DOWN Detector user report, as of 3:35 pm, many affected sites appear to be recovering.

On social media sites like X, confused users are responding to widespread service disruptions across the Internet in real time.

This is a developing story that will emerge with new details.

Updated: June 12, 2025, 4:40 pm ET This story has been updated and provides additional details about a wide range of internet service outages. An earlier version of this story says Amazon Web Services (AWS) is affected by downtime. However, Amazon representatives told Mashable that this was not the case. “There is currently no board service issue for AWS,” an AWS spokesperson said.
