Cloudflare says

Cloudflare representatives identified Google Cloud as the cause of a massive disruption on the internet on Thursday.

Extensive Internet outages have affected various popular platforms, and users have reported issues accessing Google Services, CloudFlare, Spotify, Twitch, and Discord.

The outage also includes popular cloud hosting services such as CloudFlare, which reports service outages on its status page. However, a CloudFlare representative pointed out in an email that Google Cloud is responsible for the outage of Internet services.

“This is an outage for Google Cloud,” a CloudFlare spokesperson told Mashable via email. They added: “The limited number of services in CloudFlare uses Google Cloud and are affected. We hope they will be back soon. There is no impact on the core Cloudflare service.”

Mixable light speed

On the Google Cloud status page, the company initially reported that “were experiencing service issues with multiple GCP products starting at 2025-06-12 10:51 PDT.”

At 3:41 PM ET, Google Cloud offers a further update: “Our engineers have identified the root cause and applied the appropriate mitigation. Although our engineers have confirmed that basic dependencies have been restored in all locations outside of US-Central1. We know that customers are still having varying degrees of impact on a single Google Cloud product. The respective engineering teams are actively involved and committed to restoring services. We do not have ETA for full service recovery. ”

CloudFlare reports on its own status page: “Since Cloudflare’s critical worker KV services are offline due to downtime of third-party services. As a result, certain Cloudflare products that rely on KV services to store and disseminate information are unavailable…

Mashable contacted Google to comment on the interruptions and we will update this story if they respond.

On Thursday afternoon, the website lowering detector showed a series of user error reports starting around 2 p.m. ET. (Disclosure: Ziff Davis owns Mashable and Down detector.) By 3:30 PM, service has been restored on many affected platforms, although some users are still reporting issues.
