“Sudden increase in mass” by artist Niklas Asker

Swedish artist Niklas Asker (formerly here) returns to his practice, a series of paintings based on art history and spiritual references that constantly inform his work. Thinking about his paintings in three-dimensional terms (as an object outside the boundary of the canvas), Asker’s image is filled with weight. The concepts and energy expressed by Einstein cannot be ignored.

“As the object approaches the light, its mass increases, just like the way life swepts all of us in accelerated motion. Have you ever noticed that as the days, weeks and years continue, the feeling of time passes faster?”

The series combines personal items to give a glimpse of Asker’s own life. For example, many of the objects depicted are displayed on a grey table, and the artist prepares the canvas and mixes his colors. Asker’s paintings act as self-portraits in a loose sense, and also retain a universality that resonates when personal experiences cover stories that may exist in the object itself. Currently in the United Pacific in London until June 21, “Sudden increase in mass”.
